If you’re a Verizon Fios customer and want to watch shows like “Stargirl” and “The Winchester” on Channel 11, you’re out of luck.
WPIX-TV went out of service on Fios’ system at 11:59 pm on Friday after its contract with local TV station operator Fios expired. Both Verizon and the station’s owner, Nexstar Media, have blamed each other for dropping the station from their channel line-up.
The channel remained dark on Monday. “We are disappointed to share that we were unable to reach an agreement to broadcast Nexter’s programming on this channel,” the message said.
Nexstar said customers in some markets will lose access to college and NFL football games, entertainment provided by The CW Network and local news.

“Following the actions of Verizon Fios, subscribers in 10 Nexstar markets, including New York City, Philadelphia, Providence and Buffalo, made a very important move just as the country was preparing to hold the midterm elections. We’ve lost access to thousands of local news stories that may determine the balance of power that Congress and the winter storm season will strike,” the company said in a statement.
Verizon said it has offered an extension to Nexstar while negotiations continue. This was a move to keep the channel in the line-up, but was rejected.
In a statement on Monday, Verizon said, “Our offer to extend the stand. If Nexstar wishes to accept the extension, we will restore the signal while the parties continue to negotiate to allow customers to access content through the Nexstar channel. can do,” he said.
Last week, Verizon said Nexstar offered to charge more than 64% more for its shows. “While Verizon remains committed to making these channels available to customers, we cannot agree to such an unwarranted increase,” the company said.
In a statement, Nexstar said it has reached agreements with more than 500 program distributors over the past three years.
“Nexstar has been in vigorous, good faith negotiations to reach a mutually agreeable multi-year deal with Verizon FiOS and has joined other large distribution partners who successfully negotiated earlier this year. We are offering the same fair market rates that we have offered,” the company said.
