Following the recent unveiling of its largest and arguably most opulent lounge, the Sapphire Lounge at New York’s LaGuardia Airport (LGA), Chase is again opening the doors to another lounge. This not-quite-new lounge at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) opens as a joint venture between Chase and Etihad Airways, who previously operated the lounge.
What We Know About the Chase Lounge at JFK
Few details have been shared about the Chase lounge at JFK. What we do know is that Etihad previously used it for its first- and business-class passengers. Like many other things in the last few years, the lounge shuttered its doors during the pandemic and hasn’t opened to passengers since then.
Chase revealed that the lounge at JFK would offer the signature Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club experience. If the lounge openings at LGA and Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) are any indication of what to expect, this will be a lounge to visit when departing or transiting through JFK. Other Chase Sapphire lounges offer tasty food, creative beverage options and comfortable seating with plenty of charging ports.
The Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club with Etihad is located in Terminal 4 post-security in the mezzanine on level four, just above gate A2. Terminal 4 is home to over 20 airlines, including Etihad, Delta Air Lines and JetBlue Airways.
How To Gain Access to Chase’s JFK Lounge
If access to the new lounge at JFK matches the access policies for existing Chase lounges, that would include the following:
- Chase Sapphire Reserve® cardholders with Priority Pass, plus two guests
- JP Morgan Reserve Card* (an invite-only card), as well as authorized users who have activated their Priority Pass membership and additional guests cost $27
- Ritz-Carlton Credit Card (no longer open to new applicants) plus unlimited guests
Passengers with a Priority Pass membership from a non-Chase card receive one complimentary visit to any Sapphire Lounge in a calendar year. After that, the cost rises to $75 per visit.
With Etihad still in the mix, it seems reasonable that its first- and business-class passengers will have access to the lounge. We expect to learn more about this soon but don’t know the details yet.
Chase’s Lounge Network
The Chase Sapphire Lounge at JFK marks the fifth lounge experience in Chase’s network. Some operate differently from others, like this one that works in partnership with Etihad Airways.
Chase Lounges include:
- Hong Kong International Airport (HKG)—opened October 25, 2022
- Boston Logan International Airport (BOS)—opened May 16, 2023
- Austin-Bergstrom International Airport “The Austin Terrace” (AUS)—opened March 20, 2023. Austin is not an official part of the Chase Sapphire Lounge by the Club network
- New York’s LaGuardia Airport (LGA)—opened January 16, 2024
Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club with Etihad Airways:
- New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK)—opens January 23, 2024
Chase has announced more Sapphire Lounges coming at the following airports:
- Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX)
- Las Vegas’ Harry Reid International Airport (LAS)
- San Diego International Airport (SAN)
- Philadelphia International Airport (PHL)
Bottom Line
This expansion of airport lounges is good news for travelers far and wide, adding more options and potentially alleviating overcrowding. Chase has entered the lounge space with force and elegance, providing first-class experiences that could make your next airport visit more comfortable and pleasant.
