While emphasized more in the books than the movies, Albania plays a significant role in Voldemort’s quest for power. We’ll share our best guess for the area of this small country that the Dark Lord would have fled to. But first, some history.
Following the unsuccessful elimination of baby Harry, Voldemort, or what was left of him, fled deep into the forests of Albania. And in what must have felt like deja vu, Voldemort later finds himself once again in a decimated state, hiding out in the familiar forest, following a second failed attempt to kill a now teenaged Harry.
At first, his choice of location feels random. But as the story develops, we learn that Voldy’s Albanian hideaway holds significance in his journey for immortality. Here is where Helena Ravenclaw, daughter of Hogwarts’ founder Rowenna, stole her mother’s diadem and hid it—the very diadem Voldemort sought for his evil Horcrux caper.
