Concord Aerospace Replica Switch Adds Unusual Features

Last year, I created Concord Aerospace, a company that makes amazing replicas of NASA’s Apollo spacecraft switch panels.

I just took a peek at their website and am amazed that they have since expanded into more of a joke.

First, the company now offers a Fortunate Son activation panel.

For those of you who don’t know, “Fortunate Son” is a 1969 Creedence Clearwater Revival hit. Great track. Some consider it a controversial, anti-military, anti-Vietnam War ballad. But I always read this song as protesting that it is the sons of the poor who are sent to war, not the sons of the rich. In any case, a few years ago the record label re-released the sanitized, soothing Americana music video for the track.

“Makes a great gift for space enthusiasts and conspiracy theorists,” the copy said, adding that the JSL existed, was mistakenly fired in 2018, and was associated with an ambitious belief that it caused wildfires in California. Refers to junior members of parliament.

For the latter product, the comments section on the product page goes where you think it should.

I can understand the point the manufacturer is trying to make – this is to make fun of people who believe that silly things like this are real – but it’s “okay” to shed light on these I no longer know if days. This post is probably a polite request to avoid being pulled over.
