Creative industry networking events hosted by Blacklight Collective are billed as “mini-conferences crammed into one night.”
Bay School of Creative Arts co-founder Jeremy Sheehan discusses the challenges of finding physical and creative spaces to deliver value to the market.
He explores his approach to identifying niche markets and the opportunities they can create through collaboration.
Dave Horsley, Co-Founder of SWIFF, moderated the panel, with Suzanne Ryan, CEO of SLR Productions and Vice President of Screen Producers in Australia, Sharon Joy, President of Coffs Coast Business Women’s Network, The Independent Singer-songwriter Billie-Jo Porter and Dave Mansfield, General Manager of Events and Community Engagement at Jetty Beach House and Director of Amplify Events.
Pam Brook, co-founder of Brookfarm and Cape Byron Distillery, will serve as a keynote speaker at the event, sharing insights on growing agriculture and food businesses through value addition and entering new markets, and the future of the Coffs Coast. Also consider food hubs.
She and her husband, Martin, have transformed a degraded dairy farm in the Byron Bay hinterland into a viable macadamia farm, regenerating an ancient subtropical rainforest.
Circular Australia CEO Lisa McLean sees the circular economy as a billion dollar market.
Circular Australia (formerly NSW Circular) is an independent circular economy innovation group leading the transition to a zero carbon circular economy in NSW and Australia.
McLean will be joined by Kerry Grace, CEO of Regional Development Australia Mid North Coast, to share the results of his recent work investigating what is currently happening in the region, followed by a panel discussion.
Natalia Cowley, City of Coffs Harbor General Manager, said:
“Participating in Small Business Month events gives you access to the best in business.”
“Be inspired by new ideas and be prepared to learn from other business experiences and achievements.”
Cowley said the City of Coffs Harbor is firmly focused on growing the local economy across various industry sectors, and programs like this are a foundational approach to the Council’s strategy.
“We are excited to meet our local businesses and hear about emerging industry trends.
“Networking will be invaluable to the local business community as well.”
