Greensea Systems, Inc. (Greensea) was honored with the Rising Tide Award as an “Industry Awardee” at the Blue Innovation Symposium (BIS) in Rhode Island this week. The prestigious award was presented to Greensea CEO Ben Kinnaman at last night’s awards ceremony. This recognition recognizes Greensea’s significant contributions to the blue economy through innovation, collaboration and leadership.
The Blue Innovation Symposium (BIS) is considered New England’s premier event for promoting education, networking and partnership opportunities, attracting a wide range of participants from within the marine technology industry from the United States and abroad.
Ben Kinnaman attended BIS and participated as a panelist in the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU), Commercializing Technologies discussion. Under Kinnaman’s leadership, Greensea has successfully transformed technology developed under the DIU contract into commercial products, including Safe C2. The Safe C2 was originally developed to provide above-the-horizon control of small commercial ROVs used for explosive ordnance disposal. Safe C2 is currently used in the offshore energy industry, providing technology to control offshore surface and subsea vehicles.
“I am humbled to receive this award,” said Kinnaman. “It is a great honor to accept the Rising Tide Award on behalf of Greensea. I cannot help but look back on the past 17 years, the trials and tribulations of software development for the harsh marine environment, and the many people who have helped me along the way. It’s great to see Greensea’s efforts and impact recognized.
