Logan — Logan Mayor Holly Danes has declared November 26th to be Logan’s Small Business Saturday.
In a proclamation issued Nov. 1 during a regular meeting of the Logan City Council, Danes urged all Logan residents to support local small businesses and merchants on the Saturday following the Thanksgiving holiday.
The mayor said the event is a way for the city to celebrate and support “local small businesses and the contributions they make to our economy and community.”
To celebrate that adherence, 58% of American consumers reported shopping at independent retailers on Small Business Saturday 2021. About the same number (about 54%) said they ate at small restaurants or ordered takeout. , bars and cafes of the day.
Its support on Small Business Saturday brought in a record $23.3 billion in revenue for small businesses and restaurants, according to the 2021 Small Business Saturday Consumer Insights Survey conducted by American Express .
Small Business Saturday has been held nationwide since 2010 and is proudly supported by American Express, Women Impacting Public Policy (a business advocacy group) and a coalition of participating business supporters.

Joining Danes in issuing the Small Business Saturday Proclamation are elected officials in all 50 states. Washington, DC; Puerto Rico; and all other US territories.
Danes also urged Logan residents to “shop and eat at small, independent stores not just during the holidays, but year-round.”
