NEW HAVEN — A woman suspected in the Genesee Street robbery was in possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia when she was found hiding in a dumpster Tuesday afternoon, police said.
Robetsy Quinones, 25, of New Haven was charged with third-degree burglary, conspiracy to commit third-degree robbery, first-degree trespassing, obstructing a police investigation, possession of controlled substances, and possession of drug paraphernalia. New Haven Police Department public relations officer Dell said Wednesday: Dell did not provide information on Quinones’ bail amount or court date.
New Haven police responded to reports of a burglary in progress at a house on Genesee Street in the city’s Westville neighborhood around 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, according to Dell. The homeowner told officers he believed someone was in the garage loft because the door was unlocked.
Officer David Simpson tried to open the door, but found it blocked by an object against it, according to Dell. Dell said his colleague, Constable Joseph Perotti, saw the suspect man jump out the window and escape over the fence into a neighbor’s yard. Both officers pursued the suspect, accompanied by K9 Sandler, but ultimately lost him.
According to Dell, when police returned to the Genesee Street residence after the chase, they obtained permission from the homeowner to force their way into the garage. I saw the suspect jump out the window.
