Vermont Business Magazine Our president, Brian Cina, is introducing legislation to implement publicly funded universal health care, starting with primary care and mental health. So far, over 40 members of Congress have enthusiastically signed up as co-sponsors. Senator Chris Bray plans to introduce relevant legislation to the Senate.
According to a statement released by Sheena, the healthcare system is in crisis. Vermonters struggle with high deductible insurance plans and medical debt pressures. Self-distribution of care and medicines is now commonplace. Primary care clinicians are dealing with inadequate reimbursement levels, rising case volumes, and ever-increasing administrative burdens. The mental health care system has reached its breaking point. The Accountable Care Organization has used up enormous resources with little to show for it.The hospital is on a precarious financial base. Due to the shortage of staff, patients are waiting for a long time. This collapse of healthcare infrastructure has become a disaster that affects us all.
A financially sustainable solution is needed, and a national consensus is building around the idea of revisiting groundbreaking principles that have been dormant in Vermont law since enacted in 2011. increase. Principle 1 (18 VSA §9371) states: Vermont must ensure universal access to and coverage of high-quality, medically necessary health care services for all Vermonters. ”
Other principles of the Health Care Reform Act speak of cost containment, transparency, efficiency, accountability, and maintaining primary care. Unfortunately, in the last two years, Congress has not met all of the principles of his more than ten-year-old law, cutting controls, saving money, and giving everyone deliver care.
Rep. Sheena and Sen. Bray called on House and Senate leaders, health care committee chairs in both houses, and policy makers in the executive branch to recognize the urgency of the issue. For both Cina and Bray, Vermonters would seriously debate the issue, think boldly and creatively, and ultimately bring down costs, redevelop critical healthcare infrastructure, and ultimately make healthcare universal. We believe it deserves legislative action to make it a thing.
