STATEN ISLAND, NY — The Staten Island Business Outreach Center (SIBOC) will host a Women’s Empowerment Breakfast on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at LiGreci’s Staaten to honor six outstanding women. The event was previously scheduled for March 2020, but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The honorees are Loretta Caldwell, Claudette Duff, Dr. Joan Gelenser, Mary Lee Montalvo, Dr. Gracelyn Santos, and Keshia Weaver.
SIBOC’s Nina Flores said: “These extraordinary women have been selected as recipients of the Women’s Empowerment Breakfast for demonstrating the highest standards of ethical behavior, integrity, civic and social responsibility. “They are making a valuable contribution to our community through their volunteer work, demonstrating their empowerment in business leadership roles. increase.”
The Staten Island Business Outreach Center (SIBOC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has been serving the Staten Island community since 1980.
SIBOC’s mission is to provide development programs and technical assistance to small businesses to provide services and improvements on Staten Island’s North Shore commercial corridor. Our goal is to support personal growth, which in turn fosters the growth of the Staten Island community.

Loretta Caldwell Former Executive Director of West Brighton Community Local Development Corporation and former Executive Director of Forest Avenue Business Improvement District (BID), the first BID to be established on Staten Island. Claudette Duff He is the founder and director of Integrity Senior Services (“ISS”), an agency that provides home mental health counseling and support services to seniors, people with disabilities, caregivers, and their families. Dr. Joan Gelenser Executive Director of Eden II Programs in Staten Island. She is also an Adjunct Associate Professor at Brooklyn College. She holds a Master’s degree in Speech and Hearing Science from Ohio State University and completed her Ph.D. Speech and Hearing Sciences at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. She is Vice Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Autism Research Organization. She has served on many boards, including the Autism Service Providers Council, the NY Council of Interagency, and the Staten Island Nonprofit Association. Dr. Gerenser is co-editor of her book ABA for SLP: Interprofessional Collaboration for Autism Support Teams. She has authored several book chapters and articles on autism and developmental disabilities.

Keshia Weaver Owner of Pavilion on the Terrace®. She purchased her property in 2013 and opened the venue in March 2021 after two years of renovations and her COVID-19 pandemic. The venue boasts a beautiful 19th century aesthetic and has hosted numerous events over the years.
