Bossier City, Louisiana – Bossier Parish currently has eight Purple Star schools, the most of any school district in Louisiana, and demonstrates the highest level of support for the military community.
Today, three more schools (Apollo, Legacy, and Elm Grove Middle) stunned with banners denoting their official state designation as Purple Star schools. The Bossier Chamber of Commerce has also designated the school as a Military Community Champion.
Meeting the criteria to receive a Purple Star is no small feat. Last summer, a law was passed giving schools across Louisiana the opportunity to be considered Purple Star schools if they meet strict standards and set high standards when it comes to providing a range of support services to military children and their families. was passed.
Bosier’s Purple Star School will be approved at the April 19th meeting of the Elementary and Secondary School Board in Baton Rouge.
Overall, over 2,600 military students attend Bossier School.
