The Union County Commissioner will notify residents of an emergency food distribution event planned for Union County residents on Saturday, November 19th.th.
Here are the details:
- Saturday, November 19, 2022 at 8:00 am
- Keene University in Union Township at 1000 Morris Avenue
- drive thru
Food distribution is open to all Union County residents. Food is distributed on a first-come, first-served basis and no registration is required. The event is rain or shine.
“Union County recognizes that many residents continue to experience food insecurity due to recent inflation and the impact of the pandemic,” said Commissioner Rebecca Williams. “Tens of thousands of families in Union County have benefited from our food distribution program over the last two and a half years.”
Residents wishing to pick up food at a drive-up distribution event at Keene University must arrive by car.
“The Commissioner’s Board has put this food ration on hold as we recognize that the holiday season is approaching and food rations are still an ongoing lifeline for many people who are still struggling financially. This will alleviate some of the costs associated with the holiday season for our residents,” said Commissioner Sergio Granados, who also serves as liaison to the Welfare Advisory Board. “Thank you Village Super Market, Gargiulo Produce and all volunteers for their continued cooperation.”
All drive-up recipients must remain in the vehicle. Food boxes are placed in the trunk of a vehicle or the bed of a truck by volunteers.
Upon arrival, you must prove you reside in New Jersey and indicate how many people live in your household. The recipient will receive a special holiday food box to produce with all the trimmings. Please note that we only offer one box per person.
