JetBlue makes it easy to identify which planes have Mint cabins when searching for flights. This search for flights from the greater New York City area to the greater Los Angeles area clearly labels whether planes have lie-flat Mint seats.
When searching for flights, start at JetBlue.com as usual, choosing your dates and number of passengers. You’ll have the option to search using cash or paying in TrueBlue points, JetBlue’s rewards currency. And whichever payment method you start with, JetBlue makes it easy to toggle between the two to compare your options.
If you don’t have enough points, JetBlue allows you to pay with a mix of points and cash.
How To Find JetBlue Mint flights
It’s also possible to make plans another way, using the Mint route map to see possible destinations. Click on a blue dot to see all destinations with Mint service from that airport. If you want to experience JetBlue Mint, this can help you view the options. However, note that not every plane on every route will have Mint service, but this can be a good starting point for planning your trip.
JetBlue’s site doesn’t make it easy to view a calendar of dates for Mint fares, though that would help you search for a good deal. Instead, the cheapest fares are shown in the weekly view, which displays economy prices.
It may be easier to begin your search at Google Flights. Here, you can apply several filters to get started, including searching from multiple starting and ending points. This can be convenient if you have flexible travel plans or live near multiple airports. Choose your starting and ending cities, the number of passengers and choose “Business” as the fare type. You’ll need to select a date, but picking anything at this point is sufficient, as you can use the calendar in a later step.
From here, using two filters can help. Use the “Airlines” filter to choose only JetBlue flights.
And use the “Stops” filter to choose nonstop flights only.
Now that your results are showing only JetBlue nonstop business-class results, the calendar can help you find the cheapest fares. Here’s a deal from Boston to San Francisco in December.
Returning to JetBlue’s site and searching for this same flight confirms the availability of Mint service at this price.
If your home airport doesn’t offer any destinations with Mint service, this can be a good starting point to help you understand possible destinations, prices and availability before expanding your search to start from your home airport.
Can You Upgrade to JetBlue Mint After Booking?
If you’ve already booked a ticket with JetBlue, it’s possible to upgrade to Mint later on. This can be done in several ways.
Those with JetBlue Mosaic elite status can earn Mint upgrade certificates. These enable travelers to confirm an upgrade to Mint, which will clear 24 hours before departure if seats are available. You’ll need two Mint upgrade certificates for transatlantic flights and one upgrade for other routes. Starting January 4, 2024, JetBlue will allow Mosaic elites to redeem upgrade certificates immediately after booking. Note that the number of certificates required will change dynamically based on things like the route and price.
To earn Mosaic status, you need 50 tiles from JetBlue. You earn one tile for every $100 spent on JetBlue flights and JetBlue Vacations packages. If you hold any JetBlue credit card, like the JetBlue Plus Card*, you’ll earn one tile for every $1,000 spent on the card. Spending on the card can help occasional flyers reach Mosaic status and frequent flyers reach status faster. If you’re a business owner or a big spender in general, you can spend your way to Mosaic status by charging $50,000 on a JetBlue credit card.
With the JetBlue Plus Card*, you can also earn 50,000 bonus points after spending $1,000 on purchases and paying the annual fee in full, both within the first 90 days. Even when you’re not flying JetBlue Mint, you’ll still get access to benefits like your first checked bag free and 50% off eligible inflight purchases on JetBlue flights.
The other option is paying to upgrade. You can do this in advance, and sometimes, it’s offered when you check in online before your flight. If you booked with points, you can pay additional points; those who paid cash can pay more. It’s not possible to upgrade with points if you booked your ticket with cash or vice versa. The cost of an upgrade will be the fare difference between what you paid initially and the current cost of the Mint seat on your flight.
Some travelers have been able to upgrade to Mint when arriving at the airport. This is not guaranteed, and seats must be available. Prices can range from $400 to $600, and you’ll need to inquire about availability from a gate agent or check-in counter employee.
