Towards the end of last year, Xiaomi updated the Mi 11 Lite 5G and launched the 11 Lite 5G NE, a virtually identical smartphone with a different chipset. It seems that the NE model of the Lite series will also come out in 2022, but this one has a bigger difference.
According to Chinese sources, the upcoming Xiaomi 12 Lite 5G NE has been spotted in the IMEI database, revealing its existence and model number 2210129SG. The “G” at the end indicates that this is a device for the global market, not for the Chinese market.
And given the fact that there are rumors that it will be a rebranded Civi 2, it makes perfect sense.
The Xiaomi Civi 2 has a different chipset than the original 12 Lite, namely the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, which should perform better than the Snapdragon 778G. The main camera is also different, with a resolution of 50 MP instead of 108 MP and a 20 MP ultrawide instead of the 8 MP sensor found on the existing Lite. The selfie camera itself looks the same, but the Civi 2 comes with an extra ultra-wide sensor and dual LED flash. The batteries are also slightly beefed up for him at 4,500 mAh and 4,300 mAh, but all other specs are incredibly similar, if not identical.
Interestingly, the 2210129SG was already FCC certified in September, so its launch may be closer than you think. From the FCC process, we learned that the 12 Lite 5G NE will have three configurations. 6 GB of RAM, 8/128 GB, and 8/256 GB with 128 GB of storage.
