A White Orchid Wedding Inc. “WOW” was named a finalist in the Ethics category of the Better Business Bureau Torch Awards.
Better Business Bureau Great West + Pacific (BBBGW+P) serves more than 200 million consumers in eight state service areas. The 2022 BBB Torch Awards for Ethics Finalists list highlights companies recognized as role models in a trusted community.
A White Orchid Wedding, Inc. has been celebrating weddings and events in the Hawaiian Islands for over 30 years.
The company was founded by owner Carolie Higashino and has grown over the years to support a team of in-house coordinators she said were more Ohanas than employees. We support small businesses across the islands with contracts with over 350 companies that offer unique products and services.
The company, also known as “WOW”, has received awards from many affiliates, but Higashino said as a finalist, “This is a very proud moment for all of us.”
The 2022 BBB Torch Award winners will be announced at a live online ceremony scheduled for October 27th, which will also be streamed live on the BBBGW+P YouTube page.
The Torch Awards for Ethics are BBBGW+P’s most prestigious awards for companies with operations in Alaska, Central Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington and Western Wyoming. Winners are selected based on their organization’s character, culture, customers, and commitment to the community.
BBBGW+P President and CEO Tyler Andrew said: “This year’s finalists completed a rigorous application process and successfully demonstrated how to build trust with our employees, customers and community.”
For-profit businesses and 501(c)(6) organizations are eligible to enter the BBB Torch Awards. Additional criteria are based on organization size and years of operation, with finalists categorized as small, medium, or large.
Torch Award applications ask organizations to provide examples of success in areas including:
- Solving ethical dilemmas
- Creating a culture of trust
- Demonstrate public participation in the community
- Building better customer relationships
Finalist applications will be evaluated by an independent, voluntary panel of judges made up of previous Torch Award-winning business and community leaders.
The BBB provides objective advice on over 5.3 million businesses and 11,000 charities, dispute resolution services, consumer alerts and educational information on topics related to market trust.
